IET K K Wagh Expo

IET K K Wagh Expo

Since 2003, the Department of Electrical Engineering, K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik, in collaboration with the IET (U.K.) Nashik Local Network has been proudly organizing a two-day National Level Working Model and Project Contest — “IET-K K Wagh Expo” (formerly IET Karmaveer Expo).

Originally launched as ‘Vigyanjyoti’ for participants from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa, the event soon gained immense popularity. Encouraged by overwhelming participation from across the country, it was elevated to a national-level platform in 2006.

In 2024, the event took on a refreshed identity as the “IET K K Wagh Expo.” The core objective of this initiative is to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application — inspiring students to transform innovative ideas into tangible working models. It provides a dynamic platform where budding engineers can showcase their creativity, technical excellence, and problem-solving skills before experts and the wider public.

Over the years, the Expo has evolved into one of the most prestigious and eagerly awaited national events of the institute. Each year, the contest attracts hundreds of young innovators, with prizes worth ₹3,50,000/- awarded to the top three projects in multiple categories. The exhibition draws visitors from all walks of life — including students, faculty, industry professionals, and citizens of Nashik and beyond

Several path-breaking projects showcased at the Expo have gone on to receive patent recommendations and have been highly appreciated by industrial experts. Recognized by IET (U.K.) as a milestone event for engineering students, the Expo receives extensive coverage from print and electronic media.

Adding to its grandeur, leading multinational companies participate every year by exhibiting their cutting-edge technologies and conducting expert sessions. The event, held annually in March, operates with an estimated budget of ₹10,00,000/-, largely supported through generous industry sponsorships from partners such as IET (U.K.), L&T Mumbai, Philips Electronics India Ltd., Legrand India Pvt. Ltd., KOSO India Ltd., Crompton Greaves Ltd., Nashik, and many others.

The IET K. K. Wagh Expo stands today as a celebration of innovation, industry-academia collaboration, and the spirit of engineering excellence.
